Good news...

After a very early morning, and two hours at the allergist, Hallie is able to eat wheat! This opens up so many more things that she can eat. This is a very happy thing. She still can't eat egg or peanut, and we will go back in a year to have those tested again.

At the allergist today, we did a "food challenge." We brought in a piece of whole wheat bread, and we slowly started feeding her, and watched for a reaction. We started with a tiny piece about the size of my fingernail, waited 15 minutes, made sure she didn't react to it, then tripled the size, waited, then gave her as much as she wanted, and waited 40 minutes. Hallie ate the whole piece, she thought it was quite the treat. But, she didn't have a reaction at any point. So the allergist gave us the go ahead to eat as much wheat as she wants, as long as it doesn't have egg or peanut with it. Dr. Hendershot thinks it was a false positive scratch test, and the reactions she has had were to egg and not wheat. We are thrilled. A lot more options open up with wheat.

What about the milk?I've been meaning to post about this for a month, when we went to our return visit to the allergist. But he basically said that he thinks that she has outgrown her milk sensitivity. So we are working on slowly building her up to milk. Basically we add something every two weeks. First we started with milk cooked into things, and then cheese cooked into things. We were supposed to start trying uncooked cheese on Friday, but she has had some tummy issues, so we've kind of backed off a bit, but hopefully in the next little bit we can start that. After cheese, we'll go to yogurt, then whole milk. So we'll see how it goes. Our goal is to have her on whole milk before Christmas, and hopefully earlier.

Anyway, I'm sure that is far more information than anyone wants to know, but there it is. :)

1 Year Old Photoshoot

We had Mary Anne do pictures of Hallie for her 1st birthday. And, we all know I kind of have an obsession with pictures, but I just couldn't choose which ones to put up, so here are some of the ones I LOVE!...and this was being selective. :) We got so so many good pictures, I'm so happy with them! Thanks again Mary Anne!

We had her do a few family ones too...

Busy, Busy, Busy

No, we haven't dropped off the face of the earth, but things have been pretty crazy the last few weeks. Both Eric and I are in school, and for the most part enjoying our classes, but they are definitely keeping us very busy. Hallie is just still our sweet little girl. She is learning lots of new words, and is getting brave and will stand on her own for a little bit here and there. Other than that, there isn't anything too exciting going on at our house. Just being busy, busy, busy.
