Back in September my parents had a big Peterson Family Moose Weekend, and as a part of that we had family pictures done up the canyon. Even though Hallie didn't want to cooperate we got some good pictures. Thanks Amy!

A funny story...
So this probably happened a month or so ago, and many of you probably already have heard this story, but I still think it is too funny.
One day I had something to do, and Hallie was playing at my parents house. Hallie put on her necklaces and told my mom, "Grandma, I'm a pretty princess, I need a castle." Then she kept insisting on going downstairs to get a castle, even after my mom told her repeatedly that "Grandma doesn't have a castle." But they finally went downstairs, and Hallie found a crown and that satisfied her. Once getting the crown on she said, "now I need a dragon." :)
I don't know where it came from but I thought it was quite hilarious. :)

Listen

For the last few weeks saying prayers with Hallie has been a battle. Whether its for a meal or before we go to bed, or whatever, it is just a battle. For awhile if we let her pray it was fine, but she doesn't even want to do that now. I know she is only two, and it is only to be expected, but I hate to say that I often get frustrated when trying to do what we know helps us so much.
---So the other night, Eric was in class and I was putting Hallie to bed by myself. So we got jammies on, got Hallie some milk, read a few books, read a scripture book, and it was time for prayers. Of course Hallie didn't want to say prayers together, so I thought I'd reason with her. So I asked her why she didn't want to pray, and we talked about how Jesus wants us to talk to Him and then I learned a lesson. I asked her, "are you sure you don't want to pray? Jesus wants us to talk to Him." And Hallie looked at me and said "no, I listen to Jesus," very matter of factly.
---How do you argue with that? It is so true. We definitely need to listen to Jesus, and learn what He would have us do, and hear what He has to tell us. So I said the prayer, and put Hallie to bed. But she had me thinking. It made me think a lot about how much I am listening, as opposed to just talking. Of course He asks us to pray, and to talk to Him, and He loves that we talk to Him. But are we doing all the talking? Are we taking the time to truly listen to His responses? All these things crossed my mind, and a lot more.
---It is amazing what a two year old can teach you about things that you are trying to teach them.

"...little children do have words given to them many times, which confound the wise and the learned."
-Alma 32:23
(not to say that I am wise or learned, but she definitely confounded me)
