Picking Out Pumpkins

10.12.2011
After reading Spookley over and over again, Hallie was very excited to go pick out pumpkins this year. Plus, she is getting to the age where she is understanding holidays and the fun things we get to do with each of them. So off we went to buy some pumpkins. We had read a story about an older couple battling Orem city to be able to continue selling pumpkins from their home, so we decided that we would go out there to buy our pumpkins.
They had their yard decorated very cute, and had tons of pumpkins!

Hallie debated for a long time which one she wanted, and would decide on one, then take it back. But she finally found the perfect pumpkins!Hallie had a great time loading the car up too. Even though it doesn't look like it, she had a great time picking out her pumpkins. (Which sadly didn't even get carved this year.)

A Potty Trained Princess

10.11.2011
Hallie was not the biggest fan of the whole potty training process, especially with going #2. She was just stubborn about it, and wouldn't go, which led to problems. We tried everything we could think of. Somethings would work for a day or two, but then she'd get bored with it and not care anymore. But, one day we were at the mall wandering, which inevitably leads us to the Disney Store. Now Hallie LOVES the Disney store! She always finds at least ten things that she wants to take home right then, though we rarely buy anything there. It's just a fun place to go look. While there Hallie was wanting a new princess dress, so we told her that if she could do really, really good about going potty for a long time, that we could come back and she could choose any princess dress she wanted. (Talk about pulling out the big guns!) She got really excited about it, even though neither Eric or I thought it would actually work. Suprisingly though, about a month and a half later we walked into the Disney Store and bought her a Rapunzel dress. We lucked out too, because they had one in her size in "as-is" condition because it had a tiny little hole in it, so we got it for cheap. But needless to say, we had one happy little princess, who left a trail of purple sparkles everywhere she went for a good month. It was definitely worth it though. :)

Spookley the Square Pumpkin

10.10.2011
Grandma got each family a copy of the book Spookley the Square Pumpkin this last Fall. It quickly became a favorite around here, and Hallie couldn't go to bed without it. She still asks where it is sometimes...but it got put away with our holiday stuff. I guess we know that she will be very excited to see it again come Halloween time.

October General Conference

10.1.2011
Hallie with her "Apostles Basket." Each thing had a picture of an apostle on it, and when they got up to spoke she could take it out of the basket to have. It worked really well, and kept her busy and entertained so that we could enjoy General Conference.

Eric's 28th Birthday

9.30.2011
Eric's department and the University of Utah doesn't have Friday classes. So even though he still had to work on his birthday, he didn't have school. So we were able to sleep in and take it pretty easy. I was in the middle of dealing with morning/all-day sickness, so I just picked up some donuts for his birthday breakfast and called it good. Both he and Hallie were thrilled. He also got a netbook for his birthday so that he could more easily do homework on the buses, trains, on campus, etc. It has turned out to be a great thing for him to have, and luckily we got it for a great deal!
For lunch we went to Eric's favorite Mexican Restaurant around here. Joe Vera's.Eric was offered BYU Football tickets again that day, and we were all able to go together and enjoy a great game against Utah State.
It was a gorgeous night to be at the football game!
We also won, which is always nice! Even better to see Riley Nelson do so well!

Adams' Family Party

9.23.2011

Again this year we were all able to get together to celebrate my Grandma Adams' Birthday. It is always a fun time, and its nice to get to see family that we don't see otherwise.

Jake and Hallie playing catch. Jake is so incredibly good and patient with Hallie, it is adorable to watch.
Everyone gathered around ot listen to some great answers to questions about my Grandma and Grandpa. Which of course comes with some great stories, in only a way Grandpa can tell.
The kids were happy to just play, and be together
Hallie got tired and needed a little rest. So she climbed up on Karen's lap for awhile. We used to live a block away from her, and we miss seeing her. (Even if it was just waving as we drove by)

BYU Football

9.23.2011

When I miserably sick one day, Eric was offered some tickets to the BYU Football game, so he and Hallie went and had a great time! (I was just fine to stay home and get the updates via text message.)
No BYU event would be complete for Hallie without seeing Cosmo!
There happen to be another little girl sitting by them who Hallie played with during the game. She had also just turned three, had the same pink tennis shoes on as Hallie, AND they both had red hair! What are the odds? Here they are comparing their hair colors. Eric had text me about it while they were playing and said it was so funny to watch them together. I think it's darling.

Hallie was exhausted by the time they got home, but they both had a great time. Neither of them will ever complain about going to a football game.

Silver Lake

9.17.2011

One Saturday morning, before the BYU v. Utah football game, we decided to take a drive up to Silver Lake, and see what we could find. Grandma and Grandpa had seen moose the last few times they had been up there, so we were really hoping to find a moose!

Hallie had had enough sitting in the car, and was a little bit tired so she wasn't too happy to be taking pictures.
Off we go!
Only to have to turn around about 3 minutes later for a potty break. :)
We saw lots of ducks, and were wishing we had brought bread to feed them.

After Hallie woke up a little bit and got going, she had a lot of fun running up the trail and the boardwalks.
She actually got pretty silly. I kept trying to get a good picture of her, but all we got were silly faces. :)
As we were taking this picture we realized that there was a blue jay (of some sort, Mr. Green would be so disappointed I didn't know which kind) flying around behind her.
It just kept flying from tree to tree, back and forth, up and down branches. We were the only ones in that area at the time. So it was neat to sit quietly for a while and just watch it.
After a couple hours or so, it was time to head back to beat game traffic. (Too bad the game wasn't worth watching. We should've just stayed up there.)
Even though we didn't find a moose, it was a great excuse to go be outside and do something fun, adn it was a great day.
Since going to Silver Lake, six months ago now, Hallie has said multiple times we need to go back with Grandma because she knows where the mooses' are. If it were only that simple. :)

Taylor's Cross Country Meet

9.13.2011

Align CenterWe were invited to go watch one of Taylor's cross country meets, and seeing as it was within walking distance from our house, and it's always fun to go support my nieces and nephews, we decided to walk over and watch him run.

Hallie sat on the blanket to eat her snacks while he ran. She also would have loved to play on the playground, but it was pretty little and packed with kids.

Here he comes! Go Taylor!

Grandma took Hallie for a walk to see the irrigation ditch/river and what's left of GRA park.

We were so glad that we were able to go watch Taylor run. He did such a great job and is fast!
