Alpine Loop

9.19.2010

One of our favorite things to do in the Fall is jump in the car and go for a drive, and one of our favorite drives is the Alpine Loop. It winds up past Sundance, up over a mountain pass, and drops you into a gorgeous canyon. We simply love it, anytime really, but especially in the Fall.

Moose Weekend

9.10 & 9.11.2010

So I am further behind than I thought. :)

Back in September my parents had a fun filled weekend full of moose activities, (my mom LOVES moose).

On the first evening we went up South Fork of Provo Canyon and took family pictures, and had dinner and enjoyed the very cold night.

Eric took pictures while we were waiting
The little girls going on a "moose hunt", the big kids went too but they went with Grandpa on a GPS scavenger hunt.
Adam built a fire, because it was COLD!

We didn't stay too long because we were all freezing, but it was a great way to start the weekend.
Day 2:

The second day we played all day long at Grandma and Grandpa's house, they had all sorts of fun activities planned.
Playing a favorite card game, "Moose in the House"
Making necklaces, magnets, and a little of everything
Playing duck, duck, MOOSE

Playing toilet tag
Roping the Moose, the little kids roped it with a hula hoop

The bigger kids roped it with a lasso. Whitney said that she couldn't do it, and she got it on her first try!
Then the BIG kids got a turn. :)
Then they played "pin the antlers on the moose"
Still roping...
Then a candy toss.

All of the grandkids.
Megan, Hallie, Taylor, Jacob, Whitney, Zack, Audrey, Lauren, Lizzie, Alisa, and Emi.
Moose Prizes.
Hallie got a new "Moose-y" as she calls it.
CHEESE!
Hallie ended the day with some ice cream, and she was a happy camper.
Cute, cute Zack
It was such a fun weekend, and everyone had such a great time!

Pumpkin Patch

10.28.2010

A few days before Halloween, for mother's group, we took the kids to the pumpkin patch. We had a great time, and Hallie loved seeing all the animals. She really is such a little farmer girl, I guess her cowgirl costume was quite fitting this year. :)

Weird fact, Hallie is terrified of the noise that these blow up decorations make, I'm not sure why. Because of this she won't go near bounce houses or anything similar. kind of sad.
Hallie was enamored by the bunnies, she could have looked at them all day.
Mommy witch, and Hallie cat
Evelyn, Tyler, and Hallie looking at some plants.
Out in the fields
Three darling little pumpkins.

Looking at the goats
Then the camera died, so that was all we got. But we saw peacocks, more bunnies, turkeys, roosters, and some other fun farm animals. Hallie loved it, and even got to swing in the end, so she was a happy camper.

Spaghetti Sauce

10.9.2010

I came across a spaghetti sauce recipe a few years ago that we really like, so we try to can it occasionally. We decided that while my parents garden had the fresh vegetables that we would make some more one Saturday.

Hallie and Eric picking vegetables
Stirring, stirring, stirring

Hallie played with Grandma
This is about a third of what we made. We made 30 quarts overall. It turned out okay, not as good as it has been in the past, but oh well.

Slide and Box

10.8.2010

One day we were bored, so we made a slide for Hallie's toys. She thought it was great to put her toys down the slide into the pot and listen to the different sounds they made. It was a fun learning activity for her.

Then we found a box...

And they were entertained for a long time. :) Boxes really are the greatest toys
