Salt Lake Afternoon

9.9.2010

A few weeks ago Eric had a meeting that the University of Utah to figure out what he needs to do to transfer up there to begin the social work program. Unfortunately the lady he was supposed to meet with was sick that day, so he just asked the receptionist a few questions and scheduled another appointment.

Afterward, we were all starving, and Hallie wanted to go see the temple. This little girl LOVES to see the temple, and I mean LOVES it. She asks at least once everyday, especially when we are in the car, if we can go see the temple. Normally it is just the Provo Temple she sees, so it was very exciting to see a different one. So we decided to eat at the Nauvoo Cafe on Temple Square. It is delicious by the way, I highly recommend it. So we had a nice afternoon in Salt Lake, enjoying Temple Square.

All ready to go. What a cheeser!
At the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, just outside the Nauvoo Cafe
The Salt Lake Temple
Oh how I love the flowers on the temple grounds. Zinnias really are one of my favorite garden flowers. I just love them.
Of course we had to go to "the spot" to take pictures.

If you can't tell it was a very windy day, and after this we headed back to the car, cause it go cold and rainy quick.

The 2nd Birthday: Part Two

8.17.2010

After we partied in the morning, and tried unsuccessfully to get Hallie to take a nap, we headed to the lake with Grandma, Grandpa, Kelsie, Emi, Lizzie, and Alisa. We had a grand old time. Hallie enjoyed it so much the first time, we thought she would enjoy it again for her birthday, and she did. Even if she was tired from not naping. But it was her birthday right? :)

The birthday girl
Eric and Hallie tubing
Then ALL 3 the girls went with Grandpa

Emi and Lizzie thought it was SO fun to jump off the swim deck onto the tube, and it was!

Swimming. Hallie was thrilled just to be in the water.

Then when the girls needed a little break they all just lounged on the tube, giggling away.
Cute girls. Not the best picture in the world, but it's the best I got of all of them.

It was rather bright outside if you can't tell.
Headed back in. Hallie wanted to drive the boat.
After heading in, and towing someone off the lake we headed back to Grandma and Grandpa's house for some sandwiches, and cake. Where we met up with Angela and Chad (who escaped pictures somehow), and Kelly and Bryce.

The Elmo cake. (It got a little damaged in trasport, oh well.)
Blowing out the candles. Hallie was exhausted.
Hallie, Bryce, Lizzie, and Emi.
Bryce helped Hallie open her presents.
After a day full of fun we headed home to put a tired little birthday girl to bed.

Goodnight Dorothy!
Happy Birthday Little Bug. We're so happy you're ours.

The 2nd Birthday: Part One

8.17.2008

FINALLY! After a month and a half we have birthday pictures. :)

Hallie turned two. I can't believe it. I still ask myself "how on earth is she two?" it boggles my mind. But we had a fun day to celebrate.

Good morning to our two year old!
Balloons! I think that was the favorite part.
Eric only worked until 8 am, so that we could play all day, so we decided to let Hallie open her presents in the morning.
She got the hang of it pretty quick.
This little girl loves Elmo, and Sesame Street, so we kind of had an Elmo birthday day.
Hallie loves to play with her new basketball hoop!
And Mr. Potato Head became an instant favorite.

After we ate breakfast, and showered, and got dressed we headed to the pet store.
We looked at cats.
And hamsters, and mice.
Hallie enjoyed watching them.
And birds. We even got to pet a great dane. Hallie kept asking to go pet it, so Eric went and asked its owner if that was okay, and she said yes, so Hallie loved that. She is very into dogs right now.

But then for the grand event...
Hallie got to pick out a fish!
To go along with her Elmo birthday, she got a goldfish named Dorothy, like on Elmo's World.
Oh how this little girl loved her Dorothy fish!
(Unfortunately, we only had Dorothy a couple weeks before she died. But she was fun while she lasted. Hallie still asks where Dorothy went, but we've had some good talks about it. :) )

Allergist, Round 1

8.13.2010

Every August we go see Dr. Hendershot, Hallie's allergist, at least once, and hopefully twice. This was her first appointment this year. He just does a general check, tests any allergens that need to be done, and runs blood work to see if she is ready for a food challenge. So it is always an anticipated visit for me.

Dr. Hendershot's office is in Salt Lake, but he is in Sandy one morning a week. So we try to make it there instead. but that means an early morning for this little girl. But luckily she was pretty happy.
But she was tired when we got there.
Here are her latest scratch tests. No allergy to eggs! Just peanut left!
Hallie playing waiting for results from her scratch test. She did so good.
Until they had to draw blood. Then she was NOT happy! But they had to draw blood to confirm she was ready to do an egg food challenge, which she was.
"Mommy, it hurts," she kept telling me in a voice that would break your heart.
So we went to IKEA and had lunch. :)
Doesn't take much of an excuse for me to stop though.
Hallie had pasta with marinara sauce, and it was messy!
But we were happy to have good news.
