We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!

Crazyness!
Ok, so this past week or two has been super crazy. So I just did four new posts to give you the update of our family. I would have done it as it happened, but with finals, homework, Hallie's trip to the hospital, Christmas, and everything else, it just wasn't the top of the priority list. Hope you enjoy! :)
Happy 4 Months, 1st Snow, & Our Little Elf
Happy 4 Months!
This is Hallie, our little Eskimo baby!
We had our first major snow this week.
Our little elf.
I bought Hallie this new bow, thinking it would be very cute for Christmas, but not with this intent.
We all had a good laugh though, because it pushes her ears forward, and she looks like a little Christmas elf. But what a cute elf she is! :)

Hallie's First Trip to the ER
A few people have asked how our precious little one is. So this is what happened and why we took her to the ER on Sunday.

Lately Hallie has been more grumpy than normal, and would scream for hours on end. Which, for anyone who has been around her, knows that this doesn't sound right for our little girl. But on Friday night, we noticed that Hallie had blood in her stools. We called the doctor Saturday morning, who told us just to watch it and if it got worse to take her to InstaCare. Sunday I went to change her diaper and it was a lot worse than before. So I went and interupted Priesthood meeting, got Eric, left church early, and headed for InstaCare. When we arrived there, they told us that they really couldn't do much for her there and that we needed to take her to the ER instead.
So when we got the the hospital, we sat and waited and waited and waited. Then they took us back to a room, and we waited some more. We finally saw the doctor, who was really good to work with, and he ordered some blood work and some other tests. The nurse who came to do the bloodwork was awful, and not helpful at all. We would explain what was going on, and she'd just say "well that can just happen sometimes" or "that's not completely unnormal," to say the least she was not our favorite person, and we were very frustrated. Then she stuck Hallie's heel to get blood, and took FOREVER doing it, easily 10-15 minutes, which for how much blood she collected, and having a screaming baby is a long time. Then she didn't have a band-aid ready, so Hallie was flailing, and covered herself in blood, which the nurse didn't even bother cleaning up. Ya, I was more than bugged. But anyway, enough about our horrible nurse. After waiting and waiting again, all of the tests came back normal, but the doctor was still concerned, and knew that the symptoms she had were not normal, especially for a baby her age.
The doctor then decided to take an x-ray, which again was normal. Other than she was a little "backed up," everything looked okay. So after three and a half hours he told us, that something wasn't right, and that he wasn't sure what it was, but it isn't critical enough to hospitalize her. He thinks that it may have to do with her continual thrush, that will not go away, and/or some sort of colitus. So he just told us to watch it and go see our pediatrician in the morning. It was a LONG day, with few answers.
Since then, Hallie hasn't seem to have any more problems. Monday, we took Hallie to our doctor, who after explaining what was going on referred us to a pediatric gastrointestinal doctor at Primary Children's Hospital. The only problem is the soonest we can get in to see them is March 4, 2009. We are on a cancelation list, so hopefully we can go sooner. Dr. Savage said if it comes back to call her and she will make sure she gets in sometime this week. So we are just keeping an eye on it for now. We go back for Hallie's four month appointment on Friday, and so that will be a good excuse to check-in with our doctor for now.
So, that's our excitement for now. :) And after, three and half hours of waiting in the ER, and a visit to our doctor, we still don't know much. But for now things seem to be doing better.

Rise & Shout!
A couple of weeks ago, during Thanksgiving Break, we took Hallie to her very first BYU sporting event. I'm sure it will be the first of many such outings, but we had to document it. :) We decided we'd brave a BYU Women's basketball game, and see how it went. (The fact that it was free was a plus too though) Hallie actually did quite well, and even met the president of BYU, President Samuelson. Unfortunately, BYU lost to, the number one team in the nation, UConn. We didn't stay the whole time, but it was fun while we were there.

Walk Tall
I just had one of those extremely overwhelming moments, where you have to write it down so you can take it all in little by little. So I thought I'd share it with you all, but it is really more for my benefit. :)...
A couple of weeks ago at church, was our ward's "primary" program. Seeing as we don't have much a primary, a few people from the ward spoke about teaching our children and the importance of primary. One of the speakers brought up the fact, that our kids will figure out what is important to us, and what things will become a part of them, through the things we, as parents, do, say, watch, listen too, the songs we sing them, etc. This has really had me thinking (thanks Lauren!) ever since then about what I really want Hallie to know, and never doubt. The three major things that I have come up with is: 1. she is a daughter of a Heavenly Father, and He loves her no matter what, 2. that we will love her no matter what, 3. that even though life has its hard times, the Lord has a purpose in it, and will be there with her every step of the way.
One of the ways I've been trying to do this, is to sing Hallie some of my favorite primary songs before nap time, and bed. The last few days one of my favorite songs from girls camp, came to mind and tonight, as I was putting Hallie to bed, the significance of the song really hit me. The song is called Walk Tall You're a Daughter of God (the words are at the end of the post). It truly has been one of the most meaningful songs to me, ever since I first heard it. But tonight, as I held my daughter in my arms, it brought on a whole new meaning, especially the second verse. As I started singing that second verse to her, my eyes welled up with tears and I suddenly couldn't go on. I knew without a doubt in my mind, how true those words are. And it hit me how really such a short time ago, my beautiful little girl, was with our Heavenly Father, who truly and unconditionally loves her, just as I do (ok, probably more). I could just imagine her there with Him, snuggled in His arms, and Him looking at her saying "I will miss you, but remember who you are, and that I love you, and will always be with you." To me, this is something I thought I understood before, but now with Hallie here, it has helped me only begin to understand how the Lord sees us, and His role as a Heavenly parent. It made me think about how trusting he is in us, as parents, to entrust one of his most valiant and precious daughters to us to raise, and teach her the gospel. What an amazing blessing, and a boost in yourself to know that our Heavenly Father puts that kind of trust in us.
I only hope that this is one thing that Hallie latches onto, and becomes a part of her. That she truly is a princess, a daughter of a Heavenly King, and lives in such a way. Because I know that if this becomes a part of her, that all of the other worries I have for her will disappear, and the gospel will be her strength. I know that as I remember who I am, and where I came from, that I am a happier, stronger, more motivated, more confident person, and that I have the spirit with me. What more could I ask for my daughter? The hardest thing about doing that, is that eight letter word, remember. It is so easy to forget, or not truly believe. But as we do so, little by little, I know we will all be happier, stronger people, and it will be easier to face the world head on. I hope you all know how much worth you inheritly have, and that the Lord is truly with you always. Hard things come to all of us, but He is there to see us through. As we come to realize these things, we can truly walk tall.

(chorus) Walk tall, you're a daughter, a child of God, Be strong and remember who you are, Try to understand, you're part of his great plan. He's closer than you know, Reach up; he'll take your hand.
Long before the time you can remember, Our Father held you in his arms so tender. Those loving arms released you as he sent you down to earth. He said, "My child, I love you. Don't forget your great worth."
(chorus)
This life on earth we knew would not be easy. At times we lose our way his path we may not see. But remember always that you are not alone. He'll take your hand, He loves you! He will guide you home.

Walk Tall, You're a Daughter of God
Right now I have a prayer deep within my heart, A prayer for each of you there is a special part. That you remember who you are and him who lives above. Please seek for him and live his way; You'll feel his love.

I can't believe it's December
Is anyone else wondering where the year went, and how it is December already? Because I sure am! It doesn't seem much like Winter yet, so maybe that's it. I don't know, it just seems so weird, and time has gone so fast.

Niagara of the West
On the way home from Robin's wedding we stopped in Twin Falls (to see the new temple) and at Shoshone Falls. We didn't know that it is known as the Niagara of the West until we got home, and we had never really heard of it before, but we thought it would be a nice stopping point. When we were there I never would've guessed why it was compared to Niagara Falls until I found pictures online of what it normally looks like. The river must have been really low or something, cause it didn't look at all like that. Beautiful nonetheless, but nothing like the pictures. See for yourself.

This is what we saw, if I had any previous expectations I would've been VERY disappointed.
We didn't though, so we thought it was neat anyway!
We still enjoyed it though

Dedicated August 2008
Funny story (or maybe not, depending who is telling it)...as we headed back out of Twin Falls toward home, we debated a little bit where to get on the freeway, but we got on where we thought we got off and didn't think twice about it. Well, come to find out about and hour or so later, when we hit Pocatello, we both looked at each other and went "this isn't the way we drove up." We called my dad and laughed a little bit about it, realizing we got on I-15 instead of I-84. This took us in a round about way to Logan, but we found our way home eventually. It just took us an hour longer than planned, which for four tired bums is a lot. Oops!

Robin's Wedding
Last weekend we drove to Idaho/Oregon (we stayed in Nyssa, Oregon) to attend Robin Abbott's wedding. Eric taught Robin on his mission, in Florida, and Robin really wanted Eric to be there. So we packed up and went. We were able to attend their sealing in the beautiful Boise temple, and spend some time with them. Eric got to be the witness at the temple and a groomsman at the ring ceremony later that night. It was a beautiful day, for a beautiful wedding. We are so glad we were able to be there.

I'm not sure what to think about this...
Here I am playing on the computer, not really accomplishing much, but not wanting to go to bed, in my own room either. Here is why...
Tonight Hallie fell asleep while I was working on a few things and I was holding her, so I just put her in her crib right here by me. Partly because it was convenient and partly because she was closer if she woke up and she wouldn't wake Eric up if she did wake up. Now, this may sound very normal to most everyone, but Hallie has been sleeping in our room ever since she has come home from the hospital, and now she is so asleep that I don't want to move her. I haven't wanted to move her into her own room but have known we need to, even though she has been sleeping through the night since she was 5 or 6 weeks old, because that means she is growing up, and it has just come too fast for my liking. I've come up with every excuse to keep her in her cradle sleeping next to me, and I know we're going to have to do it sometime, I just don't want to. So now I have this inner debate of what to do, and I know that this is all just silly, and me being overprotective, but I still just don't know what to think. I'm sure I'll just let her sleep where she is, but I may end up right here on the floor next to her. :) Okay, maybe not, but I may seriously consider it, or maybe I will, I don't know. I don't like this at all! Wish me luck!

The Drive to Idaho
On the way to Idaho, for Robin's wedding, we decided to take a detour out to Promontory, Utah to see where the railroads joined and see the golden spike. Well little did we know the golden spike isn't even there, let alone how far out there it really is. We were all a little disappointed. All that is there is the laurel wood railroad tie, that was the last tie laid, and the holes where the spikes should've been. It was cool and everything, just not what we were all hoping for. But the trains on the other hand were well worth the drive out to the middle of nowhere. They were amazing!

The plaque on the railroad tie
Us on the railroad tie...with no golden or silver spikes! :(

Thanks Meg for coming, it was so nice to have you there!
Yep, pretty sure we're in the middle of nowhere!

Yep, pretty sure we're in the middle of nowhere!
We also stopped at a missle display that was on the way to see the golden spike, it was rather impressive!
This is what is attached to the space shuttles when they are launched!
It is ridiculously huge!

Us at Jack-in-the-Box in Boise, 10 hours down, 1 more to go!
It really only should've taken 7ish hours, but we took a couple detours,
and Hallie needed to eat. Put it this way, we took our time!

More to come later!!!

Twilight
Okay, so I have gotten into the Twilight series. I actually like them much better than the Harry Potter series...which is saying something. So I am about half way through Eclipse, which is my favorite one so far. The only problem with that is that I don't accomplish anything else! This is how me reading a book goes, I casually read it for a few days or weeks, or however long it takes me to get into the meat of the story, then I finish the rest of the book in a day, staying up all night just to finish it. Ya, that is about the point I'm at with Eclipse. But I have so much to do before we leave for Idaho, so the book is just sitting on my nightstand, and I'm dying to know what's going to happen! I'm just past the point where someone has come into Bella's house and taken some of her things from her room. I just have to keep telling myself I have other things to get done, but I just can't help but wonder!
The other problem with these books is that once you finish one, you immediately want to start the next. Which means we may be findng the fourth book in Idaho, because we do not have it. We may be in trouble! :)
You will also notice the Twilight movie quizes I took on the sidebar. Here are the results: One quiz said I'm Esme, and another said I'm Jasper (that one kind of surprised me). I'm a vampire, not a werewolf. And I'd drive Edward's silver Volvo, which in all actuality I wouldn't mind. :)
Anyway, Eric is making fun of me, he thinks it's all kind of funny. But whatever. He hasn't read it so he doesn't get an opinion in the matter. :)

90 Years
Sorry, I'm a little behind...
Last Saturday was my Grandma Peterson's 90th birthday. How would it be to live for 90 years? Imagine the things you would see, and the things you would learn. We are so grateful for her concern and love for us. What a great example she is.
We love you Grandma!
Oh Poop!
Last week we were at my parents, and Hallie started rumbling. Yes, we all know what that means, but we had no clue what it meant this time. We had even commented that if she kept it up her diaper would explode. Little did we know how true that was. When we went to change her diaper it was clear up her back, almost to her shoulder blades. I had to call for reinforcements to help me even get her clothes off, and of course she would be wearing a white shirt. So after stripping all of her clothes off, and not knowing what else to do, Hallie got a bath in Grandma & Grandpa's bathroom sink. She wasn't so sure about that whole production, but we were glad we had her jammies with us, and as soon as we put her in them she fell right asleep.

Curse of the Purple Mouth
After four weeks of Hallie's medicine for thrush, her thrush has still not cleared up. So when we went to the doctor on Friday, Dr. Savage told us to put her on Gentian Violet. Now when a color is in the name you know its trouble, it looks like purple dye. Our doctor told us it would make a mess, but I seriously underestimated what that meant. It turns everything purple, Hallie's mouth, skin, burp rags, EVERYTHING! Which is why we give it to her without any clothes on, the last thing I want to do is try to get that stuff out of clothes. Plus, it doesn't taste good, so Hallie just spits it everywhere too, and does not like to take it. Why would any parent do that to themselves? Granted if it works, it is worth it, but it is just a pain. I thought I had a better picture, but this is after an hour or so of Hallie spiting it back out, me wiping her tongue so she would stop gagging on it, and scrubbing her face so it wouldn't be purple for the next week. YUCK! I just feel bad for her. This picture is actually much better looking than it was by far.

On another note, at Hallie's two month appointment, on Friday, she was 13 lbs 4 oz, and 24 inches long. That puts her in the 95th percentile all the way around. She also had to have her immunizations, so she got three shots. I was actually surprised how well she did. Hallie screamed and screamed when they gave her the shots, to the point that I've never heard her cry like that. But as soon as Eric picked her up, and we gave her her binky she was fine. It probably didn't help that she had fallen asleep waiting for them to come in, what a rude awakening! But she has been fine since, not too grumpy or anything.

Hallloween Decorations
I am never quite sure what to put on top of our entertainment center, so for now it may change with the holiday. The problem with that is still knowing what to put there and then finding it, and I can never find what I want. But after making tutus with the family, I figured making a garland wouldn't be to different or difficult. So here it is, our Halloween garland!

Family Photos (& Hallie of course!)
I thought I had posted these a month ago, but I didn't. We had these done back in September, by our friend Amy, and I LOVE them! I can't believe how much Hallie has changed since then.
Thanks Amy!
