One Little Indian Girl

1.18.2010

A few years ago, I made teepees for my parents to give each family for Christmas. We finally went and picked ours up a month or so ago when we moved our office into our room. Hallie love it! She thinks its the greatest hideout ever.

This is how she comes out everytime
She is getting too big! She is losing her baby face, and "starting to look like a little person" as Eric would say

Other times, she exits the hard way. :)

Hallie starts Nursery at church tomorrow! We are definitely looking forward to it, but it is still kind of sad. Wish us luck! :)

Broken

2.2.2010

Tuesday night Hallie was playing on the bed at my parents and fell off the bed. When I got back from class she was still screaming, and had been for about an hour, so we decided that we better take her to InstaCare. Of course the second we got in the door, she was running around like nothing was wrong. The admitting nurse even asked if we still wanted to be seen. But we decided we better, and were glad we did. After a lot of screaming, especially during the x-ray, because they wouldn't let Grandma come in with us. The doctor found a buckle fracture in her radius. He explained it as a tootsie roll bending. So it isn't broken all the way through. For now they just have a splint on it until the swelling goes down, and Wednesday we will get it cast. So she will have the splint on about a week, and the cast for four more weeks after that.

The first night was extremely rough, but I think we've got it mostly under control now. We've got a lot of Baby Tylenol and lots of Elmo. So I think we're set. :)

The biggest problem is she can't suck her fingers cause it is on her left hand, which frustrates her. I guess it may be a good thing in the long run, and she may stop sucking her fingers at all. But that makes me sad, that what makes her a baby in my mind. :) Silly as it may be, I will be very sad the day that happens.

Also she typically grabs things with her left hand, so she's trying to figure out how to use her right hand for everything her left used to do. But she's managing, and I'm sure that she will figure it out.

For the most part she's as happy as can be. Especially that she is getting to watch lots of Elmo. (I don't know where she picked this love of Elmo, but they are best buds)

Happy National Pie Day!

1.23.2010

Yes, we did celebrate National Pie Day, and it was fabulous! We actually celebrated for two days, with two different pies, just cause we couldn't decide.
Eric, with his favorite chocolate silk pie
Sunday, I made Buttermilk Pie that my sister made about a year ago. It was AMAZING! We highly recommend it. Find the recipe here. But leave the nutmeg out, and up the flour to just over one cup. Also use a deep pie pan. Serve warm with hot raspberry sauce, and whipped cream. It's super easy, and oh so delicious!
