Our New Normal

As much as we worried about the adjustment phase of having a new baby, it wasn't as crazy as we thought it would be.  Of course, sleep was scarce, and life changed.  But it was amazing how quickly we found our new normal, and our new routine.  Hallie quickly fell in love with her baby sister, and wanted to help in any way she could.  She still loves to help feed Paige.  What a lucky girl Paige is to have such a good big sister!

Just a little look into bedtime at the Patterson Household...

After her shower/bath and pajamas, Hallie loves to go outside and watch the sun before bed.

 Then stories...

The Llama, Llama books are some of Hallie's favorites.  This is her "mad at mama" face.

 Paige was still on her bili-lights.  She ended up being on them for about three days

When we left the hospital with Paige her bilirubin was slightly higher than they would've liked it.  So we had to take her back to have lab work done every morning to keep an eye on it.  About five days after we brought her home, they decided they better put her under the lights to help the bilirubin break down.  So even though we wanted to just snuggle her, she had to be in her light bed anytime that we weren't feeding her, and even then she had to have the light pad on.  It was kind of crazy, but it was nice to have some time to play with the big sister and help her adjust.  :)

Paige's poor little feet had been pricked so many times.  Both feet looked like this.

Headed to the hospital labs to get Paige's poor little feet pricked some more to test her bilirubin levels

Because Paige's bilirubin levels were so high, we were recommended to feed her formula every other feeding. It helps things normalizes faster.
