Seriously where does time go? I saw our cute little Valentine's Day monkey sitting on our desk, and couldn't help but think of where we were three years ago. (Okay that sounds like forever ago, but it really wasn't) Three Valentine's Days ago, Eric and I got engaged. He proposed with this little monkey, and that beautiful ring, which I still love today, as much as I did that day.
We had spent the whole day together, and I was kind of suspecting something was going on, but we went to
Sundance, and played in the snow, to lunch somewhere I'm sure, and I took Eric to the airport to fly out to Oregon, and then I would follow, a few days later. At this point we knew we were going to get married and we were scoping out where we wanted to get married, so on the way to the airport we stopped at Jordan River Temple. Eric & I had decided in advance that my Valentines Day gift was this trip to Oregon, and I had said that was more than enough. But that day Eric said that he felt bad not giving me anything on that day, so he had got me something little. While we were walking around on the temple grounds, we sat down on a bench and he pulled out this little monkey, and gave it to me. He told me it sang, so I had to push his tummy, well I pushed and pushed on his tummy, but I could not get him to sing. So Eric rips him from my hands pulled out his pocket knife and starts cutting him open, all while I'm
traumatized, and trying to tell him it isn't that big of a deal if he sings or not. Little did I know, he had previously cut him open, and stuck the ring box inside, and sewn him back up. So he pulled it out, and asked me to marry him, and the rest is history.
It's funny how those little tokens, bring such great memories. Valentines Day is a special day at our house, (in our hearts at least, we don't fight the crowds to do dinner or anything, we're pretty boring when it comes to that) and I couldn't help but share. It is still amazing to me how quickly time passes, and how much changes, but so much stays the same.
Eric also read this poem to me when he proposed. It has since been our goal in our marriage. Here is something for
